.
While we obviously promote the Horse Ranch aspect of what we're about, it's also worth pointing out that our location (about a half-hour south of Kamloops) makes Dreamscape Ranch an excellent 'home base' for those who are interested in exploring other adventures in this part of the Thompson Okanagan region.
Of particular note, there's a lot of excellent lake fishing in these parts, so if the 'gals' are more interested in horseback riding that doesn't mean the 'guys' can't venture off for the day and try their luck fishing the local lakes.
Just a thought! :)

2nd Anniversary Celebration at Dreamscape!
.

This week we were very happy to welcome back Helen and Pete who came back to the Ranch for a couple of days to celebrate their 2nd Wedding Anniversary which was on Tuesday the 15th.
It was just two short years ago that that Helen and Pete were married here at the Ranch, outside on the lawn with the view of the valley as the backdrop. Later we had a buffet dinner and live entertainment. It was a great day and full of wonderful memories!
Thanks again to Helen and Pete for coming back to visit and we hope that this may become a bit of a tradition! :)

Horse For Sale - "Snicker" - 2005 Registered Quarter Horse Mare
.
"SNICKER" is a 2005 registered Quarter Horse mare. Exceptional conformation and extraordinary breeding. A pony in height (14-1 hh) but a 'horse' in so many ways.
90 days training with Lee Poncelet, recent reining classes, very willing over jumps and recently in jumping clinic with Bill Ulmer, and ridden regularly over past year. This is an amazing filly who will excell in any discipline and take you anywhere you want to go.
Snicker would make a great pony club horse and can go English and Western equally well. There is more training in her than her price reflects.
Please contact Lea at Dreamscape Ranch directly for additional information and price.

Horse Rehabilitation News from Dreamscape Ranch
.
There is excellent Horse Rehabilitation news to report!
At Dreamscape we are ready, willing and able to bring in different types of equine care-givers if that's what the horse needs so, with that in mind, we recently had a return visit from Britt Mills to look at some of our rehabilitation 'patients'. Britt is a veterinarian here in the Okanagan that specializes in acupuncture, chiropractic and holistic medicine, and she has worked on some of my horses and some of the Board horses in the past, and they always benefit from her excellent attention and treatment.
"Dee" is a horse that arrived recently that seems to have very sensitive/sore feet... but is this the real issue or is it just the noticeable reaction to a problem that begins somewhere else? Britt found some definite alignment issues with Dee's neck, back and hips and also the possibility of selenium deficiency. After treatment, Dee has improved noticeably so we are going to continue to work with Britt as to improve Dee's quality of life.
"Vicky" is a Thoroughbred yearling that suffered a nasty leg injury, and was brought to the Ranch to heal. With the oversight of local veterinarians and Dreamscape Ranch's tender-loving-care, it looks like Vicky may be ready to head home to complete the final stage of her successful recovery. And yes, she is every bit as sweet in real life as she looks in the video!!
"Tego" is another horse that was brought to us with a leg injury (back in the early springtime this year). This big bay gelding has sufficiently recovered to the point where he was allowed to go out on pasture with his buddies, so he was clearly a very happy boy... and that's just what we like to see! Of course we'll be keeping a close eye on him because we don't want him to experience any set-backs.

Dreamscape Ranch website just updated!
.
If you visit the Dreamscape Ranch website you will notice that a few changes have taken place recently... and of course the introduction of this 'blog' goes hand in hand with those updates.
As you can imagine, the ranch keeps us very busy as there are so many things to take care of with the acreage, horses, guests, students, etc., so finding the time and inclination to get involved with our internet presence is tough. Luckily we've got a friend who is helping us with the on-line marketing of the Ranch and we're happy to say that, even in these early stages, we've seen some great results.
We're quite excited about having updated information, new photos and even video on the website and blog, because it's such a great way to connect with people. We hope you enjoy them!
Keep coming back to the website and blog as the whole intention is to keep it fresh with regular updates so everyone can keep in the loop with life here on the ranch!

Look At This Girl Go!
.
Amber is a very special horse. She was orphaned when she was born, so we hand-raised here at Dreamscape Ranch. A lot of the credit for how well Amber has turned out must go to my International Students who did so much wonderful work in feeding her, caring for her and making sure she knew she was safe and secure.
That was a few short years ago, and today Amber is a beautiful and very powerful horse that has no security issues in the least... in fact... she's not afraid of anything.
On Monday September 8th, Sandra, Sara, Doris and I took Amber and "Snicker" down to a local ranch that will be hosting a jumping clinic this weekend, where we were met by Andrew and Jackie who took the video and photos. We already know that Snicker is a willing and capable jumper, but we thought that it would be interesting to see what Amber thought of it all - as she had never jumped before.
Well, as you can tell from the video of Tess taking Amber over the jumps, Amber certainly took to her first jumping experience with relish. Her first couple of attempts were a bit clunky but from that point onwards she knew exactly what to do, and how she wanted to do it.
We're so proud of her!

Horse For Sale - Dramatic Dreamer - 2007 Registered Thoroughbred
.
"Dramatic Dreamer" is a 2007 Registered Thoroughbred filly that was born and raised here at Dreamscape Ranch, and she really must be seen to be fully appreciated. She has excellent conformation, wonderful movement, and the breeding of a champion.
This video was shot September 6, 2009 and features only the 7th time "D.D." has been ridden under saddle. Despite the video being shot in gusty winds, with thunder in the distance and with a number of other horses turned out nearby, the video shows "D.D." remaining very quiet, paying full attention to her handler and rider, and responding to her instruction without hesitation.
Please contact Lea at Dreamscape Ranch directly for additional information and price.

Busy Labor Day Weekend at Dreamscape Ranch!
.
It was definitely a busy time at Dreamscape Ranch this weekend with some new guests (Ryan, Sibylle and Jonas), some repeat guests (Andrew and Jackie), and some good friends who came to visit (Gina, Dennis, Janice, Tony and Cheryl).
The weather wasn't great on Saturday but Sibylle, Jackie, Gina, Sara and Sandra braved the cool temperatures and some rain to saddle-up and get a couple of hours worth of riding on the trails. While the girls were out on the trail, the guys held down 'the fort' and, as you can see from the photo, our new friend Jonas was well-prepared for any-and-all weather conditions and he seemed to enjoy himself very much. He was certainly a pleasure to have at the Ranch!
The weather did improve on Sunday so Jackie and Sara were able to spend some time riding some of our younger horses including "Snicker" and "D.D." - who happen to be two of our horses for sale - so we were able to get some good video footage of them to help in the marketing of these two wonderful critters. We should be adding the videos to the website and here on the blog soon... so keep checking back. :)
We have a new International Student that arrived this weekend from Switzerland, so we'd like to take this opportunity to welcome Doris as a new member of the Dreamscape Ranch "family". We trust that you'll have a good time here in beautiful Thompson Okanagan region of B.C.

It Has Been A Long, Hot Summer
.
We're definitely in no hurry to see summer fade, but some cooler temperatures and rain would be welcome as it has been a long, hot summer.
There has been a stubborn forest fire near Pritchard and I can't help but wonder if Dreamscape Ranch will reprise it's role as a sanctuary for local animals just like in the summer of 2003 when the Strawberry Hill fire threatened ranches.
We accepted over 70 horses at the Ranch within a very short time - trailers were coming in non-stop between 9:00 at night and 4:00 in the morning. The precious cargo of horses were safe and sound here at Dreamscape and it was an absolute treat to have such a herd of beautiful animals to care for (in additional to our own wonderful equine mob).
Naturally it's quite a chore to water and feed that number of animals, and at some points we literally just pushed bales of hay down the slope and let gravity disperse the hay amongst our hungry guests. Yes, that was quite an experience, and we're proud to have been able to help.
We're definitely in no hurry to see summer fade, but some rain would be a good thing after such a long, hot, dry season!
